The Photo Contest: Let's Get Digital

This was a fun contest for us to judge. There were so many wonderful images!

For the Grand Prize winner, I chose Ken Weissblum's "Self Portrait". Not only did it show a lot of creativity, but a lot of effort as well. One of the criteria we had for judging was that the "digital" effect not simply be an application of an off-the-shelf filter. We wanted to see images that were original, well conceived and executed. I found that this image was all of these.
 

For first runner-up, I chose Vanessa Aravena's image of a woman's face. I liked the way it was laid out, colored and the effect of plastic wrap applied to the image.

Second runner up was Peter Anderson's "Twirly Twirly Flower." It is richly colored and composed, and the digital effects that were used are subtle but effective.

This time we also chose five Honorable Mentions to show you. Thanks to everyone who participated. You showed great creativity.
