My artist wife, Allison, and I have been passionate
travelers for as long as we’ve known each other. For the past twenty
years, since I first took up serious photography, we’ve been publishing
travel articles and images to an international market. I must confess
that having an artist in the family does wondrous things for a
photographer’s compositional eye.

Our travels have ranged from distant places such as
Chile and Greece to the Caribbean, but we often grab a camera, and spend
a day playing tourist where we live, in Toronto. We enjoy travel in
Latin countries, so conversational Spanish is an ongoing project. I like
to think we write travel articles that make you look for your passport.

I still shoot slide film, and presently use a Nikon
F100 and a Nikon F80, but my venerable Canon A1s from twenty years ago
still get a workout as well. My “digital darkroom” boasts a Nikon film
scanner, and so I don’t feel the need to switch to a digital camera. The
truth is, after so many years of wrestling with the contrast limitations
of slide film (and winning!), I’m probably too lazy to change to a new
medium!

And be sure to check out Mike's
