Andy Long

Andy Long is an award-winning photographer, writer and instructor.  He has devoted himself to a life in photography - to the beauty of the world around us.

As a leader and instructor of photographic workshops since 1994, Andy enjoys helping people explore new locations and revels in teaching and sharing his knowledge to improve their photographic skills.  He wants to leave them knowing they have become more proficient photographers, had a memorable experience and have a lot of great images to share with their friends and families.

With more than 100,000 stock images, work has appeared in more than 30 publications and books as well as appearing in National Geographic and the Animal Planet television shows. Andy's work has also appeared in Birder's World, Outdoor Life, Audubon Regional Field Guides, regional AAA magazines, Montana Magazine, Outdoor and Nature Photography, Photo Media, National Cowboy Museum's Persimmon Hill, Ancient Images note cards, travel brochures, Sierra Photographers Focus and in ads for Rollei cameras. He is a previous winner of the national Rose Water Network Photographer of the Year award.

Andy's work has also appeared in several exhibits, including the Art Wolfe Invitational Exhibit, part of a nationwide traveling exhibit entitled Reaching Out/Reaching Within, as a featured artist at the Packinghouse Gallery in Largo, FL and at the Jefferson County (CO) Nature Center as well as being displayed at the Photographic Image Gallery in Portland, OR and ArtWorks in Denver, CO.

As a writer, he's a featured monthly contributor to Apogee Photo Magazine (www.apogeephoto.com). Articles also appear in every other issue of Nature Photographer magazine, of which he's an assistant editor, along with other various publications.

As a speaker, he has presented programs around the country as part of the Nature First Photography Seminars sponsored by Nature Photographer magazine and was a featured speaker at the New England Camera Club Council’s 52nd Annual Conference.

As a professional photographer since 1982, Andy emphasizes a “unique eye” in capturing images of our world and passes this technique on to others through his instructional workshops. His passion for the beautiful world around us comes to life through his photographs.
