The Photo Contest: Storm
Storms are always interesting subjects to photograph. Because no storm is exactly like the next, often being in the right place at the right time yields a once-in-a-lifetime kind of picture.
We received a number of really good storm pictures. For the Grand Prize, we chose Gene Czyzewski's picture of a "Colorado Storm." I liked the feeling of the image, as well as the beautiful lighting. The softness of the image reminds me of a painting. This would be a wonderful photo to hang in someone's den or living room.
At first runner-up was Michael Venturino's "Drama at Bass Harbor Head." A good example of being in the right place at the right time, this image captures the light of the setting sun on the water juxtapositioned against the darkness of the clouds and the cliffs. It, indeed, captured the drama of weather as a late afternoon storm makes way for an evening sunset.
Second runner-up goes to Sandy Ekman Gwynn, whose simple but dramatic composition, "Red Bench".
Congratulations to all for outstanding images!
