This is one of the most common uses of photoshop and, as you will see, it’s also one of the easiest things to accomplish.

Photoshop itself is based on layers, and that is exactly what you are going to use to add your person.

In order to get the work done, you are going to have to create a new layer from your existing photo and add it to the new one.

First you are going to open up your original photo of the person. Once this is selected, simply head on over to the tools and select the lasso, which is the one that look like, well, a lasso.

Make your click as close to the person as you can get without actually clicking on them and hold down the button. Move your mouse all of the way around the person and you’ll notice that the program takes it upon itself to work out the lines that it needs. Once you get back to your starting point, the lasso will complete itself and turn into highlight lines.

Although the outline probably won’t be perfect, it should be close enough for our purposes. Remember that having t5oo much background selected with the person is fine, but cutting into the person is not. If that happens, simply hold down control and make a quick loop around the area that you want to add to your layer.

Once you’re all set with your person, all you have to do is copy and paste. You can use the drop down menu by going through “edit”, or you can simply hit control C.

Now head over to your target photo and paste the new layer in. Once again, you can use the drop down menu, or you can just hit control V. Now that your person is in the new photo, all you have to do it place, resize and detail them.

Making sure the new layer is on the top of your layer list and selected, open up the free transform tool. This can be found in the edit menu once again and, once selected, will highlight your layer in a square.

You’ll notice that the square surrounding your person will have eight small boxes running through it. These are the points that you are going to use to resize your person. Simply click and drag each box until the person is exactly the size that you want and not distorted on either axis.

Once you’re done with that, save your work and move on to eliminating whatever is left of the background. The way we’re going to do this is by selecting the eraser tool and doing some fine finishing work.

When experimenting with how to photoshop as person into a picture, it’s best to use a very small eraser radius to get as close to the subject as possible without erasing part of them. Simply zoom in a much as you need and click and drag the eraser all around the person. You’ll notice that is you use feathered edges; you’ll give the person a softer, more realistic look.

Once you’re finished with that, save your work and that’s it! You’re person is now in your new photo and you can save it as a jpeg and send it off!
