They Captured this Wildlife Photographer's Heart!

GRAY OR TIMBER WOLFCanus lupus Hurricane, Utah The gray wolf, also called the timber wolf, can be found only in a few locations in the United States. The primary habitat is north in Canada and Alaska. A wolf when running carries its tail high. The ears are well rounded and carried forward as compared to the coyote. They are quite dog-like in appearance. Man has disturbed the delicate balance that predator and prey once maintained to their mutual advantage.
Wolves have a deep howl as well as barks, yips and growls. In order to get the wolf to howl, the trainer and the photographers howled and soon the wolf joined in. The primary wolves habitat is in wilderness forests and tundra. In the wild they avoid man whenever possible. I took the meter reading off of the side of the animal and bracketed several shots. The sky was very dark, the sun coming in low varied between overpowering and rather dull.
