The Photo Contest: Strong Women
This was an interesting contest. There were many very good entries, but the majority of them were of older women in foreign countries. There were very few women who entered this contest, which really surprised me. I am sure that this says something profound, but I am not sure what it is.
I chose Balazs Dibuz's untitled image of an older woman. I liked the quality of the photo, as well as it seemed to capture the spirit of this woman who obviously is a woman of the land.
"Madame Grandisson" by David Smith was chosen as first runner up. This is a very well executed portrait. The lighting is simple and quite effective.
"Gurung Woman" by Peter Wallack and Tony Kurz's untitled image were chosen as honorable mentions.
