The Photo Contest: Strong Women

This was an interesting contest. There were many very good entries, but the majority of them were of older women in foreign countries. There were very few women who entered this contest, which really surprised me. I am sure that this says something profound, but I am not sure what it is.

 

I chose Balazs Dibuz's untitled image of an older woman. I liked the quality of the photo, as well as it seemed to capture the spirit of this woman who obviously is a woman of the land.

 

Balazs Dibuz will receive from Inkjet Art Solutions, the Epson Stylus C80 Printer and a 50 sheet, letter size, pack of Epson Matte Paper - Heavyweight, CompuPic Pro the digital content management system, from Photodex Corporation; and one of our wonderful Apogee T-Shirts. 

 

"Madame Grandisson" by David Smith was chosen as first runner up. This is a very well executed portrait. The lighting is simple and quite effective. David wins a Giclée print of his image from Blue Heron Editions, one of the best, international, Giclée printers in the United States.

"Gurung Woman" by Peter Wallack and Tony Kurz's untitled image were chosen as honorable mentions.

 

Please note: Once again we received a very large number of exceptional photographs by photographers who did not send in their submission forms. Your photo will be disqualified if you do not get the form in to us. We allow extra time for forms to reach us from overseas, and we have provided a fax number for those of you wishing to submit in that manner.
