Tip of the Week

If you have been trying to sell your photographs, you probably know that you’ll stand a better chance of selling an article along with your photos. The larger newspapers are always looking for illustrated travel articles of about 1500 words for their Sunday travel sections. If you enjoy writing and can sell to these markets, you’ll find that the same article can be sold again and again to different travel editors across the country. There are several good books on the subject. My favorite is TRAVEL WRITING FOR PROFIT AND PLEASURE by Perry Garfinkel. If you plan to buy a lap-top computer for writing in the field, pick one that can fit into your camera bag. My Macintosh Powerbook 140 will fit into the outside pocket of my Lowepro Photo Trekker. My most useful laptop computer accessory is a DC power converter that allows me to plug into any car’s cigarette lighter to save the battery.
