The best rustproofer I’ve found for protecting my tripod and camera equipment is called BOESHIELD T-9. This ozone-safe aerosol spray was developed to prevent corrosion of aircraft parts on aircraft carriers. It really works! It will not harm most paints, plastics, or vinyls. I spray my tripod with it twice a year. I also spray a little on a cloth and wipe it across the exposed metal parts on my cameras.
