Hitchman's Tip of the Week On my desert photo trips, I always pack an emergency gear bag. In addition to road flares, extra water, and a tow rope, the bag contains a small air compressor. When I drive through deep sand along desert roads, I stop and let a few pounds of air out of each tire. This gives me a little more "floatation" and a bit more traction. When I reach the next paved road, I use the electric tire pump (which plugs into a cigarette lighter) and bring each tire back up to the recommended pressure. Previous Tips:
