Welcome to the premier of Apogee Photo Magazine's "On Assignment" feature.Mario Corvetto's photo essay, THE SPIRIT OF HUMAN STRUGGLE: BOSNIA, marks the inauguration of our new series, On Assignment. It's about photographers whose work makes a difference. Much more than just pretty pictures, an On Assignment photographer's work should present a point of view not seen just anywhere. While remaining true to the time-honored maxims of photojournalism, the images seen here tell a story that goes beyond that being told in the everyday press. The images may be part of an assignment by an organization or another publication, or a self-assignment. At the end of each year, Apogee Photo Magazine will present its prestigious award, the Apogee Award, to a single photographer whose use of photography has helped to advance the human condition or the health of natural world. If you, as a reader, feel you have an assignment that meets these criteria, or know someone whose does, contact us. We'd like to hear from you. Michael Fulks, Publisher |
