Hands-On digital photography
By George Schaub
If you are new to digital photography, this is one new book that you
might want to check out. It is written by the editor of
Shutterbug Magazine and is geared towards the newcomer to digital
photography. It cover all of the bells and whistles that are
unique to digital cameras and does it with sets of exercises that
covers each topic. There is no guessing, as you will observe
what is happening with before-&-after illustrations. They are
sizable and easy to see, unlike many books for which you need a
magnifying glass. The illustrations in this book are actually
above average in size and example quality. A great tool for
digital beginners.

The
Nikon D200 Dbook
By Helmut Kraus, Rudolf Krahn, Rainer Dorau
The first thing you will notice about this book is that it looks
like they forgot to put the pages in it (only has 45 of them), but
that is because the book itself is more like the index for the CD,
which is what the book is really about. That CD is a 580 page
interactive manual for the Nikon D-200 camera. If you bought
one of these cameras, or are about to, here is the first tool that
you should get to go with it. It will probably become your
most important accessory for your camera. (I have the Nikon D-200
and I know that there seems to be controls everywhere you look and I
wouldn’t be surprised if I still haven’t found them all). Here is a
new book/CD that will show you how to take advantage of all your
camera has to offer. You can also check out their web site for
a Dbook created for other camera models.
This hardback book is about 6x9 inches, with 45 pages, retails for
US-$44.95 - and is published by RockyNook and distributed by
O’Reilly Media and can be checked out at:

Advanced Digital Photography
Techniques & Tips for Creating
Professional Quality Images
By Tom Ang
If you are new to digital photography you might want to check out
this how-to book on the subject. The book covers just about
everything from beginner info to advanced techniques for creating
great images, and includes many step-by-step and before & after
illustrations. However, if you already have any of the other
books by Ang, you may not need this one. It is more or less
just a reprint of his past books, with new images added to
illustrate this new one. I’d check it out before buying, as
they are starting to look like one copy after another of the same
material - “if you’ve seen one, you’ve seen them all.”
This soft cover book is about 8x10 inches, with 144 pages, retails
for US-$24.95 – and is published by AMPHOTO BOOKS at:
