The
Photo Contest Winners:
"Toes"
In
looking at the images submitted to "Toes", we looked for something that
made not only a statement about the toes, but also had an impact on the
viewer. After much discussion, we decided on "Chalk Toes" by Sunny
Quinn to be the Grand Prize Winner. What made this image stand
out was not only its first impression of the subtlety of colors, but the
angle at which the photo was shot. Add to that the creation of the
negative space around it, and you have toes that "pop out of the photo"
really well. So congratulations on the first place win in "Toes".
~~~~~
As
our 1st Runner-up, we selected William Bullock's image, "Toe Rope".
The integration of the rope with the legs and the toes made this image
very striking. The soft light allowed the contours of both the rope and
feet to contribute to the unity of the image.
~~~~~
Our 2nd Runner-up is "Carrie" by Blake Dieters. Again, it
showed the photographer's mastery of the entire image space as well as
the unusual angle on the foot position. The shallow depth of field also
highlighted the foot and toes and added to the overall impression of the
image.
Our
congratulations to all of you for some wonderful images and our special
congratulations to our winners.

"Get Down & Look Up"
Our
Grand prize winner in this contest was Julia Hartshorn for "Park". It
was an image where both the photographer, as reflected in the glasses,
and the subject of the image connected. We felt that this personal
connection and composition had the greatest impact of all of the wonderful images
submitted. Our congratulations go to the winner.
~~~~~
In
1st Runner-up position is a wonderful image called "Chicago" by Bonnie Wylo.
The use of the image space and the striking geometric design of the
image was certainly an "eye catcher".
~~~~~
Our
2nd Runner-up image was Marilyn Gelfand's "Ferris Wheel".
The almost-evening shot of this ride was made interesting by the golden
lights and the people who were spinning
around in silhouette.
Well
done everyone. You all put forth such effort and it was a very
difficult decision for the judges to select just three out of the many
fine selections.
Congratulations to all of our winners and our thanks
to all of the participants.
