Born in Portland, OR, Jim Austin has lived in Kyoto, Japanand Stockholm, Sweden. His photographic career started in the early 1970's covering news while a student at the Rhode Island School of Design. Since then, he operated a portrait business, and has photographed commercial, portrait, wedding, magazine and fine art assignments. Jim taught photography and digital imaging in the Design Department at Colorado University and now teaches photo students thru Jimages One:One coaching. He has exhibited print work in the Smithsonian. He publishes Shizen, a fine art eZine, and is a founder of the Slow Photography movement. http://www.jimages.com
